Torchwood Day Four...
(please excuse any cock ups, i'm posting via my mobile) No no no no no. I fucking hate RTD and whatever other fuckwits made that decision. You bastards! It's not so much that he's dead, more that it was fucking pointless. It serves no purpose other than hurting Jack (and us) and his death should have been noble, heroic. He should have been a hero, not a victim. I know real life doesn't work like that, but this isn't real life, it's fucking Torchwood.
I have a horrible feeling this is intended as the end of Torchwood, but if those sons of bitches kill off a pregnant Gwen, Rhys or Jack's family I don't think I'll ever watch it again even if there is more. I don't have a problem with character death when it serves the story, but this just feels like they did it because they can.

I actually find myself hoping that Rusty will use one of his patented 'get out of jail free magic reset cards' much as I hate them!

Suddenly very pleased with myself for making Ianto Immortal though. *grin*

I want to comment on the episode more, but I can't think straight right now. Maybe after tomorrow.

I share your pain! In buckets. Which I didn't cry - just.

Yay for Immortal Ianto though - especially as I can imagine the look on Gwen's face as *he* resurrects too. *nods* Yes, that shall now be canon for me.

Evil crossover muse can't help but think of the mutual Jack/Methos h/c that's going to be needed after this though. Bad muse.

It will be some epic h/c. Actually, from a fanfic point of view, this will probably turn out to be a very good thing in the end.

I did weep...well, maybe not buckets, but certainly cupfuls.

I an so pissed at his death I can not speak!!
I agree it was fucking pointless - I loved Ianto - too upset to make coherent comments. Crying buckets. I haven't been this upset over a character death since Wash on firefly!!!

You're not the only one to mention Wash - I've been upset since, but I saw the movie first, series second, so it didn't have a huge impact on me.

I've been upset about character deaths, Tosh, Owen, Liam in Coronation Street *grin*. But the only time I remember feeling this upset about it was Richie *sniffle*.

ETA: I forgot Wesley and Cordelia and Spike. How could I forget them?!

Since I knew all about Richie from the get go i was able to avoid that evil episode and as far as I'm concerned he's still around :))I have truly never dealt with the idea that he's not).

Wash's is the death that was the biggest surprise and now Ianto - I had no clue!

Nathan Stark in Eureka came out of the blue too - he was too hot to die. [g]

Spikes not dead - the comicbooks post the finale of Angel prove that and they were written by Joss

I'm reading After the Fall, so I know Spike's not dead, I meant when he died at the end of Buffy - it was so noble I bawled like a baby. Even though he came back, it still upset me when it happened!

(Is this you B - cause you're anony?) I forgot about that death - I was very upset but i thought the way they brought him back was one of the best twists ever. Certainly better than the stupid clone story line that brought Carson Beckett back to Atlantis - and truthfully he wasn't a character I even missed.

Yeah, soz I was posting from my mobile phone *facepalm*.

I've not actually seen Carson's death because terrestrial (ie non-cable) TV hasn't shown anything other than Season 1 over here. I have the DVDs on my Blockbuster rental list, so hopefully I'll get to see them eventually!

Yeah, I loved the way they brought back Spike, it was a great twist and brought a new dimension to Angel, which was at risk of jumping the shark. Maybe RTD should get together with Joss for a lesson in how to write big story arcs and successfully sort your messes out!

Oh please let RTD be fucking with us and Ianto comes back. (i'll accept that is due to Jack sharing his life force back in Cyberwoman) PLEASE!!!

That's not a bad idea actually...I mean, nobody that Jack brought back in that way has died a second time (that I can think of), so it is theoretically possible that the energy does more than resurrect once, that maybe Ianto (and Gwen) will live a little longer, or get a couple more reboots?

I'm sensing a plot bunny, quick run away!

In all seriousness though, I think it does need to be a concept we've already been introduced to, they can't just wave a magic wand (for example, the 456 being able to bring him back for some reason. Although, actually, if they were able to bring him back to use him a la Wesley in Angel....)

No I shall not run away. I shall feed the plot bunny. NCIS team has to go to Cardiff on a case, they bring Richie (Abby and Duckie too). There they have to deal with Torchwood. (which has differently immortal Jack and new Immortal Ianto.)....oh and Methos is there as well.

Eat this up plot bunnies.

Yeah, I heard a nasty rumor that RTD and the writers were going to kill off Ianto.

I'm probably not going to watch season 3.

So, anymore Immortal Ianto? Just imagine how you can change this with an Immortal Ianto...

But, I don't want to be a pie,: fixableidontlikegravy on July 10th, 2009 12:39 pm (UTC)
Of course there'll be more Immortal!Ianto! And the muses are already re-writing this series with the addition of Amanda to the team. :)

Don't let Ianto's death put you off watching though, this is probably the best series of Torchwood. Ever.

*insert disclaimer that I know it's a TV show and a fictional character*

I'm heartbroken. More upset than I thought I would be, and also upset that it was one of those 'piss your hero off/'motivate' beyond reason by sacrificing his lover in a pointless way' kinda tropes. I came to love all of the main cast and it was bad enough losing Tosh *and* Owen, but Ianto...

So yeah, I'm kinda utterly gutted, and see little reason to watch a potential future season, much as I love Jack, Gwen and Rhys.

Sorry to ramble on, but I hadn't posted about it yet.

*quietly tidies up after herself*

Ramble away, I think I've done enough of that today on various people's LJs!

Yeah, I'm feeling much the same, though after tonight, not sure there will be any more...
