Torchwood Children of Earth

Well, I bloody said it looked like the end, didn't I? Of course, Jack could come back again, but as he said "What for?"

Torchwood Three is no more. That of course doesn't mean that Torchwood is no more. Perhaps RTD or whoever is planning on moving on to a different Torchwood?

I get the impression that Rusty is this big kid with ADHD, he plays around in his sandbox for a while, and at first it's a lot of fun, but then it gets hard and he gets bored, throws his toys out and wails he's had enough and wants to do something else. Or is that just me?

I shouldn't villify RTD, after all he's not in sole creative control of Torchwood, but I have to blame somebody and it's his name over the door, so to speak.

But in all seriousness, Jack has nothing left on 21st century Earth - Ianto's dead, Steven's dead and there is no way in hell his daughter will ever talk to him again, so I can't see how or why he would come back. I'm heartbroken, but I accept that it's over.

From a fanfic point of view, of course, this opens up a fabulous world of possibilities - Jack's travels, Gwen & Rhys' baby, does Gwen try to carry on, maybe with Rhys and Andy? The possibilities are fantastic and endless, and I cannot wait to read the inevitable fic onslaught once the dust has settled.

I'm really disappointed in Jack. The Doctor would never sacrifice the needs of one for the many (unless the one was himself of course), so it looks like Jack learned bugger all from him when you get down to it. Guess Davros was kinda right.

I still love Torchwood, but I'm very cross with Jack and his creators for what they did to us this week. Bastards.

On a more detached note, it was nice to see that we really have only ever scratched the surface of Jack, and I thought that every episode this week was well written and performed. It was funny and sweet where we needed it, tense and action packed, we learned more about the main characters in this week than we have in two years, and I did not see it coming.

That's all I have to say for now. My head's still reeling from the loss of Ianto, and between that and the hard decision Jack had to make tonight, I'm all cried out. Bloody Torchwood.

I can accept this, or with Torchwood and UNIT working together.
But more as specials then actual shows.

I think I'd quite like to see that actually. But I really don't think I could watch Torchwood Three ever again, it just wouldn't be the same.

Also that way Jack and Gwen don't have to be in it much. They can just visit from time to time.

I'm still all of a flummox. I'm weepy, tired and shaky and can't believe I feel like this about a bloody TV show. Geez.

You'd think I should have learned by now after what 1997 did to me.

I am *so* going to write more about my Torchwood 4 now! Am going to Williamson's Tunnels with a fellow Torchwood fan tomorrow and we will geek out about it and chill. Maybe I'll pootle around looking for pseudo-locations for my fic, like coffee shops and banks and old houses.

And I think I shall decide visit 'the Nile' when it comes Ianto. I really don't see how they can continue the series after this. Maybe RTD and the writers wanted to end this Torchwood spin off?

I've read elsewhere of them wanting to do a US version of the show, but if that means a US version with Jack, or a whole new cast, I have no idea.

Maybe a version set 50 years from now with Jack on a moonbase or some such.

I don't read TW fic, but there sure seems to be room for many bunnies after this.
