Because I felt like it...
Seen just about everywhere, but snagged specifically from strangevisitor7

I’ve no idea how many words I’ve written, I’ve not got the patience to add them all up, but it’s somewhere around the 70k mark over 50 fics/ficlets/drabbles.

Overall Thoughts: A surprisingly good year, in the end. I've brought Browncoats and Scabbards to a coda (not an end I hasten to add) and I've dabbled in some new fandoms. But I've neglected some WIPs that require much TLC in 2010. Just hope the muses are still speaking to me!

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted? Less than I had hoped at the start of the year, but given the crap I’ve gone through and the lack of time I’ve had to write there’s much more than I thought there’d be.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January? Torchwood/Bagpuss. Never in a million years would I have considered writing that one.

What's your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest: Y Ddraig Goch. I know only Brits of a certain age will have even heard of Ivor the Engine, but it instantly took me back to happy childhood memories and it was such a joy to write.

Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them: Writing in 2nd person for A Mirror Crack’d. It was a bizarre departure for me, but I think it helped the piece work. It’s a really dark fic (another departure) and by putting in 2nd and using quite poetical language I think I managed to prevent it from being offensive, which it could have been. So, sometimes, my sense of the ridiculous can be a boon!

My best story of this year: Personally, I think it was A Soft Day’s Night, my one and only purely Discworld fic. I think I got the tone of a Pratchett book with that one in a way that I haven’t previously.

My most popular story of this year: It’s very close between Once there was a Girl Named Emily, Old Dog New Tricks and Five Cracky Pieces.

Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: A Soft Day’s Night. Maybe I don’t have enough Discworld readers on my flist, maybe I didn’t pimp on the right coms, but hardly anyone commented on that fic, and like I said, it’s the one I’m most proud of this year.

Most fun story to write: Five Cracky Pieces. It’s possibly one of the most insane things I’ve ever written, which as most of you will know is saying a hell of a lot, but it was a complete blast to write!.

Story with the single sexiest moment: Don’t really do sexy, but I dunno, Each Other’s Courage maybe?

Most "Holy crap" story: Ooh, bit of a toughy for me this one, because I’ve written a lot outside my comfort zone this year, but I’m going to go with Singing Ringing Tree because, like a lot of the fic that came from prompts for consci_fanmo, this one really surprised me.

Hardest story to write: Knight, Rook, Monk, Priest. It was my fic for the Highlander Flashfiction Ficathon, and it was my choice of prompt, with my choice of character for my ficathon and yet it was impossibly hard to write! I knew what I wanted to do with these characters and I could see them sitting at a chessboard but I just could not get the fic written!

Biggest Disappointment: That I failed to update Richie and the Xmen, Methos on Discworld and Watcher!Abby. I think Methos disappeared to Bora Bora in the middle of the year.

Biggest Surprise: Writing an Uther/Gaius fic.

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?: I really want to finish the HL Raven fic I started and write more Watcher!Abby – that serial killer won’t find himself! And as for the pro: I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to jinx anything, but I just hope I can actually finish the project I’ve got.

I'm kind of surprised that Once There Was a Girl Called Emily was one of your more popular ones. Pleased though. That, Y Draig Goch and Rites of Passage are probably my top 3 fics of yours from 2009.

You know what I really like? That I'm partly responsible for encouraging your muses!

I should probably edit my version of this with the goals thing - that wasn't in the one I swiped from ith.

That completely surprised me too, but based on number of comments it definitely was.

Yes you definitely are, you bunny breeder you! *g* And very glad I am for it - you definitely kick started my muses when I was afraid they'd never come back. *hugs*

*slaps own wrist*

I've actually been working out suspects for the serial killer in the last week so fingers crossed there are signs of life!

I'm an appreciator of the under-appreciated. :) (OK so maybe also slightly biased too...) I've really been enjoying your trips into the Disc (as well as many other exotic fictional locations), and I still have to say that one of the footnotes you wrote (I think from the first Methos, Death fic?) is one of my favoutie lines ever, and could have so easily been written by PTerry himself. :)

Oh, and speaking of fic, I don't suppose you've had any time to take a gander through the Gwen piece I sent you? No hurry at all, just curious.

Er, I'm right in the middle of that! Didn't forget about it... *embarrassed cough*

one of my favourite lines ever, and could have so easily been written by Terry himself

*blush* Thank you hon. :)

And your continued support and generosity is greatly appreciated. *toddles off to read that fic*
