Remember, remember
It's the 5th November, gunpowder, treason and plot. woot /sarcasm

I've nothing against Bonfire Night, if people want to celebrate a failed attempt to blow up Parliament by burning chunks of their garden while standing around, clutching warm mugs of soup/Bovril/alcohol and waving sparklers in a vague attempt to pretend they're not freezing their arses off then that's fine by me. I like fireworks, I enjoy nothing better than standing by my window and going 'ooh' and 'aah' at appropriate junctures. What I fail to see the point of are those bloody great rockets that seem to do nothing except sound like a cannon going off, rattle your windows and put the fear of god into your pet. Our poor dog spent last night cowering in the only room in the house with no windows and you can't tell me that being deafened is entertainment for these people? It doesn't help that we live near two schools that have big public displays and near enough to the town centre to be affected by any displays there too.

Also, wouldn't mind if it was only Guy Fawkes night, but as a nation we seem to have adopted using fireworks at New Year and Chinese New Year (even if they aren't Chinese!) and both Bournemouth and Poole do a public display once a week for the entire summer (on different days, I might add). It's a wonder our poor pooch isn't a gibbering wreck.
